I have an old Motorola RAZR that I wanted to power up, but I gave away all of the chargers during my town’s last e-cycle pick up.
I wondered if I could charge up the phone via a USB cable, but all of articles I read pointed to this only working on a PC and having to install special drivers on Windows for this to work.
That’s not too bad, but the cell phone’s battery was completely dead.
So, I taped 3 AA batteries together in series and used copper cables to attach the positive and negative ends of the ad-hock power source to the cell phone’s dead battery. Thanks to this post for the tip: Solve USB charging issue with RAZR
The phone came back to life and I connected the phone to my PC to charge, and after a while, the battery had enough charge for me to do what I had to do.
To my surprise, once I connected the phone to my MacOS computer, I found that it would charge on that OS without the need for any special software.
Go figure!
